Elevate Freedom 

What is Elevate Freedom? 

Elevate Freedom is a 50-day challenge that invites you to hike, walk, run, move and groove to the beat of empowerment! No matter if you’re an elite hiker scaling Mt. Rainer or plan on conquering daily walks around your neighborhood, you are welcomed and wanted, and YOU can make a difference. With every mile you log, you will be actively empowering a woman in exploitation to take her own steps forward into freedom—steps that she now doesn’t have to take alone! All proceeds will directly benefit OCC’s partner, Not Abandoned. 

How does it work? 

Registration opens June 1st and activity tracking runs June 11th – July 31st. Folks will have the opportunity to form their own team or hop onto an existing team. People can hike/walk on their own, with their team, initiate meet-ups or join a pre-organized hikes. All miles will be logged into a user friendly app where you can also post pictures, chat, and have some friendly competitions. 

Why is Overlake invested in this? 

It’s simple. We wholeheartedly believe that every single person has value, dignity and worth. By participating in Elevate Freedom, we are not just raising money, but we are elevating her story, walking in solidarity with her struggle. We are climbing so that she can also climb out of exploitation and into empowerment. With every climb of our own elevation, we further elevate her freedom and let her know…she is not abandoned. 

What will the funds specifically go toward? 

This year our goal is to raise $25,000 for Not Abandoned’s expansion of their Freedom Center in Pattaya, Thailand. Every dollar raised will go directly towards the equipping of this newly renovated day center that provides a safe place for women recovering from exploitation. Here they plug into a healthy family of support with trauma care and employment opportunities that provide stability, empowerment, and freedom. 

Who can participate? 

Anyone can participate!! The young, the old, families, singles, OCCers, non-OCCers, those who hike, and those you don’t hike! Literally E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E. 

What is the Cost? Do I have to fundraise? 

The cost is only $35 to participate ($20 for teens & free for kids). While personal fundraising is encouraged, it is not required. 

What will the fundraising look like? 

You will be provided with your own online fundraising page with a direct link to send to potential donors. Families have the option of having their own family page. You can then invite donors into the Elevate Freedom journey by either giving a one-time donation or to sponsor you for number of miles you hike, up to a certain dollar amount.
